Islamabad, Dec 2: According to the Punjab Traffic Police, over 841,000 driving licenses were issued in November 2024, demonstrating notable advancements in license issuance throughout the state. This comprises 284,000 license renewals, 308,000 new licenses, and about 243,000 learner licenses. During the same time frame, more than 4,500 international licenses were also granted.
Major city licensing centers were open around-the-clock to accommodate the increasing demand. Additional IG traffic attested to the fact that these actions had increased people’ accessibility and efficiency.
The Punjab Traffic Police set aside a whole day to grant licenses to rickshaw drivers as part of a different effort. Every Sunday, rickshaw drivers will take special driving exams at specified locations. The Additional IG Traffic and the Secretary of Transport met and made this conclusion.
In 2023, Punjab issued more than 10 million driver’s licenses, setting a record that was acknowledged by then-Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who commended the Punjab Police and PITB for their efforts, according to the newspaper.
