The construction of the Punjab lakes is underway as these lakes will serve as major tourism destinations that will depict the culture, the natural beauty of the provinces and its ecotic importance. The provincial government takes the initiative of revamping such water bodies to ensure they are admirable destinations to the local and international visitors.
On the World Lakes Day the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif pointed that lakes are not just tourist attraction spots but also a very important element in maintaining the natural balance of the ecological system. They also promote biodiversity, and implement a range of water ecosystems, and enhance the general health of the environment in the whole region. Natural lakes in regions like Khushab, Kallar Kahar and others are being maintained and upgraded to that of visitor interests.
The Chief Minister emphasized that protection of natural environment of these lakes is a major priority. Ecological preservation has to correlate with development of tourism. We all have a collective window of opportunity to conserve these natural wonders to posterity, she said.

With the investment in infrastructure, conservation, and promotion, lakes in Punjab will become the major tourism destinations where nature lovers will spend on purchasing goods and services, as well as, enhance the local economy. The work is geared towards the construction of sustainable destinations where recreation, culture and environmental care co-exist.
As preservation and enhancement of tourism are the ongoing priorities on the state estate, lakes in Punjab are targeted toward becoming some of the greatest natural attractions in the state, and at the same time, they are creating future decades of sustainable tourism centers.
