The Marriage Prisoners Daughters project has been extended in order to accommodate the daughters of the imprisoned people providing them with new perspectives and optimism. Social Welfare Department has communicated to all regional directors that this program should serve as an officially inclusive program that aids this segment as well.

With this widened scheme, listing of prisoner specifics has become a required condition to receive support. Sohail Shaukat Butt informed that the number of applications already received in the Multan division under this program itself is 124, and prisoners have applied to help their daughters to get married.

The future mission of the said program is to ease the financial pressure and provide equal opportunities to daughters of incarcerated parents so that they could enjoy their wedding without any shame. Regional offices have been assigned with responsibilities of verifying applications in a timely manner and processing the application to ensure a quick helping hand.

It is important to note that the program will be transparent and accessible and assist the families to overcome these issues posed by imprisonment and facilitate the provision of social support by marriage ceremonies. As long as it is monitored, the program is aimed at increasing the coverage and reaching more families that require such assistance.

By expanding this assistance, Marriage of Prisoners’ Daughters program reinforces its social welfare mission to empower the marginalized families and to provide equal opportunities to all those who deserve the opportunities.
