Islamabad, 27 May 2025: Insulin Card for Kids has become the face of a new health initiative launched by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, aimed at offering free medical support to children diagnosed with type-I diabetes.

The groundbreaking project promises to deliver insulin and essential medical kits directly to the homes of young patients across the province.

A Compassionate Start to a Lifesaving Project

On Monday, the Chief Minister personally joined Pakistan Post officials in visiting the homes of affected children, where she oversaw the distribution of insulin cards along with glucometers, blood sugar strips, and syringes.

Government sources said Maryam Nawaz engaged with families, listened to their stories, and reassured them that the government stood firmly behind them.

She reportedly expressed her concern over the emotional toll on parents struggling to afford daily treatment, stating that no child should be deprived of insulin due to financial constraints.

The initiative, part of the broader Sehatmand Punjab vision, aims to make critical healthcare accessible to underprivileged families.

First Full Diabetes Kit for Juvenile Patients

Officials highlighted that this is the first program in the country to provide a complete set of diabetes care tools to young patients.

Along with insulin, children are receiving glucometers and testing supplies to help them monitor their condition at home.

The chief minister is said to have remarked that ensuring the health of children is not just a policy goal but a moral responsibility, especially as the number of juvenile diabetes cases continues to rise at an alarming rate.

Home Delivery Through Pakistan Post

In an innovative collaboration, the Punjab government has partnered with Pakistan Post to deliver the insulin kits directly to recipients.

The program’s first phase will cover 1,500 children, who will receive a three-month supply at their doorstep.

Each delivery will be verified through a custom-built mobile application operated by trained postal riders. Authorities confirmed that the insulin will be transported through a cold chain system to maintain its quality.

Health officials said the Insulin Card for Kids initiative represents a new chapter in public healthcare, blending innovation, compassion, and logistics to reach vulnerable children where they live.

As the program begins its rollout, the Insulin Card for Kids has already offered renewed hope to many families turning a routine treatment into a symbol of dignity, care, and inclusion.
