Punjab has introduced Online Mulakat, a new app for online meetings between prisoners and their families, marking a major step toward modernizing the jail system.
The Punjab Prisons Department has officially issued a notification, confirming that this facility will now be available across all prisons in the province.
According to the department, special centers will be set up inside jails to support the online meeting process. Families will no longer need to travel long distances or wait in queues for physical visits, as the app will make virtual meetings easier and more convenient.
The department has also directed prison authorities to place awareness banners at visible spots within the jail premises to inform prisoners and their relatives about the new service.

Officials said that this initiative aims to improve communication between inmates and their families while ensuring security and comfort for both sides.
