The Punjab government has announced a significant change to the procedure for obtaining disability certificate, making it more accessible for residents across the province.

According to an official notification issued by the Directorate General of Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal, Lahore, any person residing in Punjab can now apply for a disability certificate from any district. The applicants are also allowed to appear before the board of the district of their choice.

This amendment updates clauses 7 and 8 of Section 2 of an earlier notification and aims to simplify the process for people with disabilities, reducing the need for travel and paperwork associated with applying in a specific district.

Officials say the change is expected to remove barriers and make it easier for people with disabilities to access government services. Previously, applicants were required to apply in their home district, which sometimes caused delays and inconvenience.
