Islamabad, 14 May, 2025: The Punjab govt is preparing for a large-scale rollout of the Maryam Nawaz Community Health Services Program, with nearly 20,000 Community Health Inspectors (CHIs) set to be hired across the province to reinforce grassroots-level public health Department services.

According to a report by 24News, the last date for private firms to submit tenders for managing the recruitment process closed on Tuesday, marking a key breakthrough in the launch of the ambitious health Department services initiative.

As part of the plan, 19,543 CHIs will be hired on daily wage contracts through the private sector, with the recruitment process being fully subcontracted. Official sources reveal that over Rs. 16.5 billion has been earmarked for the hiring drive.

The selected private firm will receive direct govt funding and will be answerable not only for hiring but also for overseeing and, if essential, removing CHIs during the contract period.

In Lahore alone, the program will recruit 3,783 inspectors, backed by a budget of Rs. 3.5 billion for the city.

The CHIs are being organized to address the vacuum created by vacant Lady Health Worker positions.

These new recruits will play a vital role in health monitoring, data collection, and improving community outreach across both urban and rural areas of Punjab.
