Islamabad, 7 May, 2025: Public Service Commission examinations scheduled between May 10 and May 12 have been postponed, the Punjab authorities confirmed, as a result of the escalating security concerns in the region.
The decision, taken by the Public Service Commission, comes amidst heightened border tensions between Pakistan and India.
Officials stated that the step was purely precautionary, aimed at ensuring the safety of candidates and examination staff.
The exams affected include recruitment tests for various important government roles, notably the Canal Patwari position under the Irrigation Department, and Assistant Director posts in both the Lahore Development Authority and the Labor and Human Resource Department.

The original examination plan had over 92,000 candidates registered to appear in tests during the mentioned three-day period.
These individuals are now expected to wait for fresh dates, which the commission has assured will be shared once the security environment stabilises.
The Public Service Commission, in its announcement, urged all candidates to remain updated by frequently visiting its official website and monitoring authorised notifications.
It emphasised that all decisions were made with the broader interest of public safety in mind and that the commission regrets any inconvenience caused.
This suspension reflects the broader atmosphere of uncertainty gripping the region, where diplomatic relations and border incidents have triggered increased caution from administrative bodies.
While no direct threats to the examination centres were reported, officials considered it unwise to proceed under such volatile conditions.
