Lahore, August 20, 2025: In a major relief for pensioners, the Punjab government has reinstated the old pension rules, allowing widows and unmarried daughters of deceased government employees to receive a family pension for life.
Previously, the provincial government had amended the pension law last year, limiting family pensions to only 10 years following the employee’s death. This change had drawn widespread criticism from affected families.
With the latest notification, the government has reversed that amendment, ensuring lifetime financial support for eligible family members.

The notification also clarified that in cases of multiple marriages, the pension will be distributed among all eligible beneficiaries according to established rules. Officials have urged families to update their records to ensure timely disbursement of pensions.
This decision is expected to provide significant financial relief to the families of deceased government employees across the province.
