LAHORE: Secretaries of nine important departments met with ruling party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif over the preparations of Punjab’s historic development budget for fiscal year 2025-2026 (FY26).

The meeting of development budget preparation was held at Sharif Medical City under the chairmanship of Nawaz Sharif. Secretaries of Health, Education, Local Government, Housing, Agriculture, Transport and C&W, among other departments, along with Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb participated in the meeting.
The attendees gave a detailed briefing to Nawaz Sharif on the development budget, which included proposals of development projects worth Rs 2,000 billion, as presented by all departments of the Punjab government.
However, the provincial Finance Department has said that Punjab has a development budget frame of Rs 1,100-1,200 billion. They recommended that Punjab’s development budget should be kept between Rs 1,000-1,100 billion.

The attendees were also informed that for the first time in the history of Punjab, Rs 724 billion has been spent on development projects in one year. Punjab government is targeting a total spent of Rs 900 billion by the end of the current financial year.
