Islamabad, Aug 11, 2025: The Punjab government has released the merit criteria for its Free E-Bike Scheme, aimed at supporting female teachers. The scheme will select recipients based on a point system covering six main categories.
For distance from home to school, teachers will get two marks for every kilometer, with a maximum of 20 marks. In the family support status category, widows, divorced, or independent women will receive 20 marks, while those with husbands working abroad will get 15 marks, and those with husbands working in other cities will get 10 marks.
The school posting area also carries weight. Teachers working in boundary or hard-to-access areas will get 20 marks, rural areas 15 marks, and urban areas 10 marks.
For driving licenses, a valid license will secure 10 marks, while a learner’s permit will earn 5 marks. Seniority will be rewarded with two marks per year of service, up to 20 marks.

The academic qualification section gives PhD holders 10 marks, MS/MPhil holders 8 marks and MA/MSc/BS holders 5 marks.
In case two applicants have the same merit score, preference will be given to the elder in age candidate.
This initiative is part of the Punjab government efforts to make commuting easier for female teachers, especially those in remote areas. The e-bikes are expected to reduce travel difficulties, improve punctuality and support teachers in carrying out their duties more efficiently.
