Punjab Education Secretary Khalid Nazir Watoo has strongly denied the circulating claims on social media regarding an extension of school holidays in Punjab until September 5. Addressing the matter on Wednesday, he clarified that the widely shared notification is completely fake and does not originate from the Education Department. “No additional holiday announcement has been made by our department,” Watoo confirmed, advising the public not to trust unauthentic online posts.

He urged parents, teachers, and students to only follow the verified Facebook page of the Punjab School Education Department for accurate updates. The clarification comes at a time when Punjab is grappling with widespread flooding, caused by heavy water inflows from India into the eastern rivers. Rising levels in the Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej have heightened safety concerns in multiple districts.

According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), over 210,000 residents have already been evacuated from flood-hit areas, with the Pakistan Army leading rescue and relief efforts. Thankfully, no loss of life has been reported despite the scale of the disaster.
