Islamabad, Aug 13, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday announced that 100 electric buses are being loaded at Yantai Port in China and will set sail tonight.

These buses will be sent to underserved districts of Punjab, including Mianwali, Okara, Nankana Sahib, Muzaffargarh, Vehari, Pakpattan, and Dera Ghazi Khan — areas that have long been without a proper public transport system.

In a post on X, she said the fare for the new service will be just Rs. 20. She added that this fleet of electric buses for Punjab will feature air conditioning, free WiFi and a fully automated ticketing system. The design will cater to people with disabilities, ensuring safe, comfortable, and eco-friendly travel for citizens.
