Islamabad, Aug 6, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired the 28th session of the provincial cabinet, where a comprehensive 130-point plan received formal approval.

A key development from the meeting was the allocation of 1,220 housing units for factory employees at Labour Complexes situated in Sundar, Kasur, and Taxila. These flats will be allotted fairly through a transparent draw system.

To enhance worker welfare, the proposal to collect payments from laborers for these accommodations was firmly rejected. Instead, the chief minister directed officials to move forward with the immediate construction of an additional 3,000 residential apartments, aiming to benefit a larger number of industrial employees in the province. This step reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to labor housing and employee wellbeing.

The cabinet also finalized the minimum monthly salary at Rs40,000 for all categories of workers—skilled, semi-skilled, and general laborers—across 102 employment sectors. This increase supports fair compensation and aims to improve living conditions for the working class.

In a separate move to acknowledge emergency response services, CM Maryam Nawaz applauded the Rescue 1122 teams for their prompt and tireless efforts during the recent floods. She announced a cash incentive of Rs50,000 for each personnel involved in relief activities, recognizing their dedication in challenging conditions.

These decisions highlight the Punjab government’s focus on labor rights, housing development, and emergency service support.
