Islamabad, Dec 18: Punjab’s Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, announced plans to overhaul the examination system by introducing conceptual testing in schools and colleges. This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to modernize education and enhance the country’s global competitiveness.
He shared that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has set up a dedicated task force to oversee these reforms and mentioned an upcoming teacher training program as a critical element of the changes.
Speaking at an event at Women University Rawalpindi, organized by the Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate Education and Kantab Publisher, the minister emphasized the importance of practical and technology-based learning. He also discussed empowering school and college leaders to address the challenges faced by teachers and students.
Hayat expressed hope that the education department’s issues would be resolved within three months. Education experts and university chancellors also highlighted the need to modernize the curriculum to meet global standards. They stressed the importance of equipping students with technological skills to prepare them for a future increasingly driven by computers and robotics. The session concluded with discussions on integrating the matric and intermediate systems with O and A levels, alongside a shift towards conceptual learning.
