Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced that modern electric buses will start operating in every district of the province by December.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, she confirmed that another fleet of 100 electric buses departed from Shanghai port for Pakistan two days ago.

The chief minister said the new service will offer citizens safe and affordable travel. Each bus will be climate-controlled, fitted with CCTV cameras for security, and available at a fare of just 20 rupees.

She added that the electric buses would not only provide comfort to passengers but also support a cleaner environment.

Earlier this month, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had also announced that 100 electric buses for underserved districts of Punjab, including Mianwali, Okara, Nankana Sahib, Muzaffargarh, Vehari, Pakpattan, and Dera Ghazi Khan, areas that have long been without a proper public transport system.
