Islamabad, 17 May, 2025: In a major move to improve security and facilities for travelers, the Punjab government has announced a dedicated Tourism Police force across the province.

The Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has instructed authorities for swift formation of this specialized unit.

As per official reports, the initial phase will involve the deployment of tourism police in major tourist hubs including, Lahore, Murree, Nankana Sahib, Bahawalpur, and Kartarpur.

This new force will operate under the supervision of the Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police, with Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) managing their respective areas.

The tourism police will be equipped with up-to-date technology.

Sources have confirmed that patrol vehicles will feature advance tracking systems and specialized software to collect and organize tourist-related information effectively.

The main objective of this initiative is to provide a safe and welcoming experience to tourists visitors while safeguarding prominent tourism spots across Punjab.
