Islamabad, May 13, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given her approval for a wheat support subsidy of Rs. 5,000 per acre, aimed at benefiting around 600,000 farmers under the province’s Kissan Card scheme.

Presiding a high-level meeting, the Chief Minister shared that even farmers without a Kissan Card will still qualify for the financial support.

She also promised that billions of rupees in subsidies are being planned for the upcoming crop season.

During the briefing, officials informed the meeting that farmers have already spent Rs. 36 billion using the Kissan Card to purchase fertilizers, seeds, and other inputs, with 60% of loan expenses completed so far.

Moreover, repayments of Rs. 22 billion have been made by farmers under the scheme.

Authorities confirmed that the second installment for the upcoming crop has also been released.

It was also noted that about half of the applications received for the wheat support program have undergone verification.

In a separate session, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz examined proposals regarding the solar-powered conversion of agricultural tubewells.

Discussions also included detailed implementation plan for wheat subsidy, with a suggestion to include contractors along with landowners as eligible in the support program.
