A meeting chaired by Punjab Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique at the Civil Secretariat reviewed progress on the Punjab Development Programme (PDP).

The minister announced that the provincial government will spend Rs. 304 billion under the PDP, with the first phase covering nine cities including Attock, Layyah, Kamoke, Daska, Khanewal, Vehari, Wazirabad, Bahawalnagar, and Khushab.

Development schemes will be implemented in all nine divisions of the province, excluding Lahore.

Key projects under the programme include the construction of sewerage systems and underground water tanks in 200 cities, repair of link roads, and paving of unpaved streets.

The plan also features restoration of streetlights and parks, enhancement of disposal stations’ capacity for effective drainage of rainwater, and solarization of all disposal stations.

Additionally, modern plants will be installed for the safe treatment of sewage water, along with the introduction of a bypass system for its secure drainage.
