Islamabad, July 12, 2025: The Punjab administration has announced to reintroduce board exams for eighth-grade students throughout the province.
As per a report by a private news outlet, Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced this decision during a session of the PECTA (Punjab Education Curriculum Training and Assessment Authority) Board of Governors.
The minister announced that PECTA would oversee the Grade 8 examinations, and a comprehensive strategy must be prepared within 30 days. Moreover, the education minister instructed that internal evaluation tests will be conducted of students in classes five to seven, with a fair system to assess both students and teachers.
He directed to form a framework for these evaluations within a month. Rana Sikandar further mentioned that the government is exploring the possibility of transforming textbooks for Grades 9 and 11 (Matric Tech) into video formats to enhance accessibility via digital education.

The Academic Committee for Online Tech Education has been given the responsibility to maintain the standard of these video lessons.
Additionally, the minister instructed that timely measures should be made to ensure the printing and distribution of textbooks for the next academic session. He further stressed that any delays would be unacceptable.
