Islamabad, Aug 12, 2025: The Punjab Traffic Police has launched an intensified crackdown on speeding violations across the province, with the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) leading strict enforcement measures. This year, Punjab Traffic Police fines over-speeding drivers have surged dramatically, reflecting the department’s zero-tolerance approach to reckless driving.
A spokesperson confirmed that stringent operations targeting those exceeding speed limits are underway throughout Punjab without any exceptions. So far, more than 95,000 motorists have been issued challans for surpassing the legal speed threshold.
This marks a significant 97% rise in enforcement actions compared to the previous year. The crackdown encompasses all types of vehicles, including motorcycles, private cars, and commercial trucks.
To accurately monitor vehicle speeds, traffic authorities are deploying advanced speed guns, while Safe City surveillance cameras are continuously scanning major roads to detect and penalize violators instantly.
DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazir emphasized that speeding severely jeopardizes not only the driver’s safety but also endangers innocent pedestrians and fellow commuters. He credited the use of speed detection technology for the noticeable drop in traffic accidents recently.
