Islamabad, Nov 14: Punjab Unveils New Farming Internship Program to Boost Agricultural Skills. By providing hands-on training in shrimp farming, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has started an internship program aimed at empowering recent graduates in the fields of zoology, aquaculture, and fisheries.
Located in the Fisheries Department’s shrimp farm in Muzaffargarh, this six-month internship will give participants practical experience in addition to a monthly salary of 50,000 rupees. In addition to giving graduates useful skills, the program seeks to increase Pakistan’s foreign exchange profits and satisfy the rising demand for shrimp worldwide.
Maryam Nawaz highlighted shrimp farming’s economic potential, pointing out that using 100,000 acres for shrimp production could bring in over $1 billion. She also presented the idea of turning the arid region of South Punjab into lucrative shrimp-producing areas.
The program provides farmers and investors with leased land, incentives, and required equipment to further encourage shrimp farming, which is expected to result in the creation of 10,000 to 20,000 employment. Through an online job portal, young people can apply for this project, which aims to promote self-employment and financial independence.
