Legendary Punjabi cinema comedian Jaswinder Bhalla passed away on Friday at the age of 65, leaving fans across the world in deep shock.

According to hospital officials, Bhalla was admitted to Fortis Hospital, Mohali, where he breathed his last early in the morning. His funeral will be performed on Saturday at the Balongi crematorium in Mohali.

With a career spanning over three decades, Bhalla became a household name for his unmatched comic timing, witty dialogues, and unforgettable characters. He started with stage shows and comedy albums during the 1980s and 1990s before transitioning into films.

He made his acting debut in films like Dulha Bhatti and Jaspal Bhatti’s Hindi satire Mahaul Theek Hai (1999). Over the years, his remarkable performances in Jatt & Juliet, Sardarji, and the Carry On Jatta franchise earned him immense love. His portrayal of Advocate Dhillon in Carry On Jatta remains one of the most iconic comic roles in Punjabi cinema.

Bhalla is survived by his wife Paramdeep Kaur, a fine arts teacher in Chandigarh, and son Pukhraj Bhalla, who has also established himself in the Punjabi entertainment industry. The father-son duo appeared together in the film Stupid 7 in 2013.
