Islamabad, July 31, 2025: In a landmark step to improve infrastructure in South Punjab, the Vehari Multan Road dualization project is progressing at a remarkable pace. The initiative, spearheaded by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, promises to transform regional connectivity and reduce traffic congestion on one of the province’s most critical transportation arteries.
Spanning 95 kilometers, the dual carriageway is being constructed with an estimated cost of over Rs. 25 billion, reflecting the government’s strong commitment to regional development and economic uplift. Once complete, this road will efficiently handle the movement of more than 24,000 vehicles daily, drastically reducing travel time between Vehari and the M-4 Motorway.
Speaking about the development, CM Maryam Nawaz referred to the route as a “lifeline for South Punjab,” emphasizing its importance for trade, agriculture, and mobility. She noted that the dualization will not only offer smoother and safer travel for commuters but will also open up new avenues for business and logistics throughout the region.
This ambitious infrastructure overhaul aligns with the broader provincial strategy to modernize road networks and ensure seamless intercity travel. The upgraded road is also expected to boost local economies by improving access to markets and services in both Vehari and Multan districts.
