Islamabad, Oct 23: Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25 Schedule Announced. The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, the nation’s top domestic first-class competition, has a 2024–25 calendar that has been publicly announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The PCB formally stated in a press release that the Karachi Region Whites, the reigning Quaid-e-Azam Trophy champions, will play Peshawar Region on October 26 at Ashfaq Ground in Charsadda, a newly added first-class venue.
Three groups of eighteen teams from sixteen areas compete in the competition. Each group’s top team will advance to the triangular stage. The top two teams advance to the final, which is set for December 14–18. The top team from each group will play two matches in the triangular stage. Later on, the locations for the last and triangular stage will be revealed.
With PKR 7.5 million going to the winner and PKR 4 million going to the runners-up, there is a total prize fund of PKR 12.6 million up for grabs. Forty-five group-stage matches will be played in different cities in accordance with the tournament format. The Diamond Ground, Marghazar Ground, and National Ground in Islamabad will host the Group A matches.
The Ashfaq Ground in Charsadda, Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, and Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi will host the Group B matches. The Jinnah Cricket Stadium in Gujranwala, Saeed Sports City in Lahore, and Rana Naveed Academy in Sheikhupura will host the Group C matches.
Three groups are formed from the 18 teams: Abbottabad, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Lahore, Whites, and Larkana regions are all part of Group A. The regions of AJK, Bahawalpur, Karachi, Whites, Multan, Peshawar, and Rawalpindi are all included in Group B. FATA Region, Karachi Region Blues, Lahore Region Blues, Quetta Region, Sialkot Region, and Dera Murad Jamali make up Group C.
The top team from each group advances to the triangular stage after each team plays at least five games in the group stage. According to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy’s expansion from eight to eighteen teams this year offers a chance to broaden the talent pool and enable more regions to compete at the top level.
