Pakistan has 47 ranked universities putting the country 14 th in the world in terms of the number of universities ranked by the QS, same as Taiwan. : Quaid e Azam University stands in the 401-500 band, same as last year, and is the highest ranked educational institution in the country.
There are eight universities in Pakistan in the band of 601-800 universities, one more than last year. Malakand has emerged from the 801-1,000 band for the current year while Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan has dropped down this list.
Another new entrant, Sukkur IBA University also fell in this year’s 601-800 category. But only seven universities were upgraded from Pakistan while 10 has been degraded.
There has been an overall increase of 6.9% in the completed questionnaires in this year from 2,674 in the previous year; 2,860 institutions have participated in the current year out of 133 countries and territories. Another 768 institutions provided the data and therefore were given “reporter” status, though they did not meet the requirements to be ranked.
