Quaid-i-Azam University’s Academic Staff Association (ASA) has demanded that the government set aside Rs. 5 billion to solve the funding shortfall.They said that the university’s regular operations are under danger due to a serious financial situation. According to the ASA president, the institution has a shortfall in its budget of about Rs. 800 million.
He said “that unpaid expenditures for teaching, lab supplies, consumables, student fellowships, medical expenses, and even office supplies had brought the institution to a complete halt since January 2023”.
In an attempt to avoid the university’s imminent financial collapse, the president of ASA appealed to President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the chairman of the HEC, and the minister of education.
In order to keep up with the rising demand, he also demanded an increase in the overall budget for higher education. The president of ASA said, “that QAU’s long-term performance calls for a Rs. 5 billion rescue plan. The ASA emphasized the importance and accomplishments of the university in their statement”.
