Islamabad, Mar 09, 2025: Rachin Ravindra has set a new benchmark in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, becoming the first batter from his country to surpass 250 runs in a single edition of the tournament.
The milestone was reached during the final against India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. The left-hander provided an aggressive start, scoring 25 runs off 14 balls in the first five overs.
His consistent performances throughout the tournament, including two centuries in Pakistan, propelled him past the previous record held by Kane Williamson. The former captain had accumulated 244 runs in the 2017 edition.
Before the final, Rachin had amassed 226 runs in three matches, securing his place at the top of New Zealand’s all-time Champions Trophy run charts.
With his current tally, he now leads the scoring charts in the 2025 edition, positioning himself as a contender to equal Chris Gayle’s record for the most centuries in a single edition.
The West Indies great had registered three centuries in 2006 while scoring 474 runs.
Having made his ODI World Cup debut in 2023, where he scored three centuries, Rachin has continued to establish himself as one of cricket’s rising stars.
