Islamabad, 16 April 2025: Islamabad United and Multan Sultans are set to face off in the seventh group-stage match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025.

However, looming rain clouds over Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium could disrupt the much-anticipated encounter.

Under the leadership of Shadab Khan, Islamabad United have made a confident start to their campaign, winning both of their opening matches.

Their consistency with bat and ball has made them one of the early favourites of the tournament.

Multan Sultans, meanwhile, suffered a disappointing defeat in their first outing.

Despite posting a formidable total, they were unable to defend it against Karachi Kings, largely due to a match-winning century from James Vince.

However, weather conditions in Rawalpindi have cast a shadow over this high-stakes match. Forecasts indicate heavy cloud cover, and rain has already been reported in nearby Islamabad.

The pitch was completely covered by the afternoon, and the ground staff is preparing for further rain or possible thunderstorms that could delay the toss or even reduce the number of overs.

According to weather service AccuWeather, there is a 70% cloud cover expected in the afternoon, along with a 42% chance of rain.

Although conditions are expected to improve by evening—with the probability of rain dropping to just 1%—concerns remain about the condition of the outfield.

Rawalpindi’s limited drainage system and shortage of ground covers may lead to multiple inspections before a final decision on the match is made.

Even if the rain subsides, ground conditions could delay the start or result in a shortened match.

Fans and both teams will be hoping for clear skies by evening, as a washout or delay could impact the momentum and planning for both franchises moving forward in the tournament.
