Islamabad, Sep 21: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast another spell of monsoon rainfall in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the eastern parts of Sindh from September 26 to October 02.
This weather event will be influenced by moist currents coming from the Bay of Bengal, expected to penetrate upper parts of the country starting September 25.
A westerly wave is also likely to affect the country from September 26, leading to widespread rain in several regions. The PMD has highlighted the following areas for expected rainfall:
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Sept 26 – Oct 01):
- Chitral, Peshawar, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
Punjab:
- Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Tala Gang, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, and neighboring areas (Sept 26 – Oct 01).
- Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, and Bhakkar (Sept 27 – Oct 01).
Sindh (Sept 26 – 28):
While most parts of Sindh will remain hot and dry, isolated rain with thunderstorms is expected in Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Umerkot, and nearby areas.
