Islamabad 17 July: Forty three people were killed due to torrential rains in the last 24 hours causing heavy urban flooding in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The district administration has declared a one day holiday. According to Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Pakistan Army’s 111 Brigade has been requested to help deal with the emergency. The public has been requested to stay at home and not to leave their homes unnecessarily, says a statement issued by the DC office on X.

With the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting more downpour, sirens have been sounded in areas surrounding Nullah Leh as the water level has risen by 22 feet prompting the Met Office to issue evacuation orders.
Islamabad and Rawalpindi have received over 230mm of rain. While Chakwal received 423mm of downpour due to a cloudburst.
Rain emergency has been imposed as low-lying areas of Rawalpindi like Katarian and Gowalmandi Bridge was reported to be under 20 feet of water. So far, Saidpur has received 53mm of rain, 77mm in Golra, 95mm in Bokra, 67mm in Shamsabad, 105mm in Kachehri, 90mm in Pirwadhai and Gowalmandi and 80mm in Katarian.
