Islamabad: Raj Kumar Thapa, serving as the Additional Deputy Commissioner in Rajouri, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), was reportedly killed in a targeted strike conducted by Pakistan as part of its ongoing military retaliation named Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos.

According to Pakistani security officials, Thapa was not merely a civilian administrator but had allegedly played a covert role in facilitating militant groups that operated with the backing of the Indian government.

Intelligence assessments claim that Thapa had long-standing links with these armed elements and was a regular attendee of high-level security briefings conducted by Indian military leadership.

Pakistani military sources further characterized the strike as a precision operation, specifically aimed at individuals and locations identified as central to Indian cross-border aggression, particularly those involved in attacks targeting civilians and religious sites inside Pakistan.

Thapa’s presence in military decision-making circles, combined with his alleged role in coordinating counterinsurgency measures in the region, had made him a controversial figure among Kashmiri Muslim communities, who accused him of overseeing harsh repressive campaigns.

Part of a Broader Military Response

The strike that killed Thapa came as Pakistan intensified its multi-pronged retaliation against India in the early hours of Saturday.

The campaign—officially titled Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos—has focused on striking Indian military assets believed to have been involved in recent missile and drone attacks on Pakistani soil.

Security sources have confirmed that the operation involves coordinated strikes on strategic targets, including airbases, missile depots, and command posts, many of which were allegedly used to launch assaults on Pakistani civilian areas and mosques.

As part of this retaliatory operation, Pakistan also launched the Al-Fatah missile, named in memory of Pakistani children martyred during the recent Indian strikes.

Officials stated that the attack was not just military in nature but symbolized Pakistan’s resolve to hold accountable those responsible for targeting non-combatants.

“Pakistan has not forgotten and will never forget the innocent lives lost,” a military spokesperson emphasized, adding that the ongoing strikes were a direct response to Indian provocations and were carried out in self-defense under international norms.
