Islamabad, July 16, 2025: Ramen, kimchi and sesame oil dishes helped Korean cuisine earn traction all over Pakistan, sparking a widespread food trends.

Korean cuisine has become a rising trend in Pakistan, particularly among Gen Z. Pakistani youth is eager to try and recreate dishes like ramen, kimchi, spicy noodles, cold noodles, KBBQ and tteokbokki. Korean chilli oil, sesame oil and instant noodles are now common in many homes. Particularly, social media has played a big role in escalating this trend.

Social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram and YouTube are filled with food vlogs, Korean recipes, and mukbangs. These videos spark curiosity in youth to cook and taste Korean dishes themselves. Mukbang creators and food vloggers have created hype around Korean meals. Food content has widely influenced the way Gen Z in Pakistan explore food.

Korean dramas also contribute to the craze. Food scenes in K-dramas often spark cravings and curiosity and want to taste what they see on screen. As a result, many try Korean street foods and restaurant style meals at home.

The trend has led to projection in demand for Korean ingredients in Pakistan. Grocery stores and online sellers report increased sales of ramen, kimchi, gochujang and others. What began as interest in Korean pop culture has now grown into a fully developed food trend. For many teenage Pakistanis, Korean cuisine is more than a meal, it has become a lifestyle.
