Following heavy rainfall in the federal capital, the water level at Rawal Dam has risen significantly, prompting the Islamabad district administration to announce that the dam’s spillways will be opened on Friday morning at 6 a.m.

According to officials, all preparations have been completed to release excess water, with the operation to be carried out under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Nilore. The administration has also issued precautionary guidelines for residents living near low-lying areas.

Rescue and police teams will remain deployed at all bridges and adjoining areas to ensure public safety during the water release. Citizens have been urged to follow the precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary movement near rivers, streams, and vulnerable locations.

The district administration reiterated that the step is necessary to manage the rising water level at Rawal Dam and prevent any potential flooding in surrounding areas.
