The Punjab government will launch 80 electric buses on 10 routes across Rawalpindi by the second week of October, aiming to provide eco-friendly travel while reducing pollution in the garrison city.
The buses will cover 86 kilometres, connecting Rawalpindi with Islamabad International Airport, the railway station, Metro Bus terminals, the general bus stand, and major neighbourhoods across the city.
The service will be integrated with Islamabad’s transport network for seamless intercity travel.
The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has allocated 10 routes for the service:
- Route 1: Railway Station – Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench
 - Route 2: Koral Chowk – Fawara Chowk
 - Route 3: Umar Baig Chowk – Mandi Mor
 - Route 4: Munawar Colony – Saddar
 - Route 5: Marrir Chowk – Motorway Mor
 - Route 6: Faizabad – Tramri Chowk
 - Route 7: IJP Metro Station – Kuri Road
 - Route 8: Saddar – Lalarukh Colony
 - Route 9: Umair Baig Road – Qadeemi Imambargah Mohallah
 - Route 10: Saddar (local circulation)

To support the initiative, work has begun on a bus depot along Peshawar Road, which will accommodate up to 100 electric buses. The depot is being constructed on 28 kanals of land already owned by the Transport and Masstransit Department.
