Islamabad, Sep 30: Rawalpindi Metro Repairs to Finish by December
Punjab Secretary of Transport, Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi has instructed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to accelerate the repair work on the metro bus corridor from Saddar to Faizabad.
During his visit to the site, Dr. Qazi highlighted the necessity of the metro bus service, which is used by over 100,000 people daily, stressing that extended delays are unacceptable.
The repair project, costing Rs. 718.945 million, is expected to be completed by December. Out of 20 designated sites, six have been finished, including sections of the Shamsabad, Rehmanabad, Waris Khan, and Liaquat Bagh bus stations.
Rawalpindi Metro Repairs RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza emphasized the project’s importance and urged the Chief Engineer Mohammad Anwar Baran to expedite the remaining work.
“The feeder buses will connect all parts of the city with existing metro bus route. The 10 routes of the buses designed so people from Peshawar Road, Adiala Road and other areas will catch the buses to Islamabad without any problem,” said Regional Transport Authority Secretary Rashid Ali.
