Islamabad, July 14, 2025: Rawalpindi Railway Hospital is set for a major transformation as the federal government plans to upgrade it into a 500-bed state-of-the-art medical centre. This decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi, aimed at revamping the healthcare system for railway employees and the general public.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Abbasi emphasized that the welfare of railway employees is the top priority. He said, “We are committed to providing our workforce with modern medical facilities, ensuring that all necessary diagnostic tests and treatments are available on-site.”

Once upgraded, the new facility will be capable of treating up to 5,000 patients daily, with comprehensive healthcare coverage for railway staff and their families. The modernization plan includes advanced medical machinery, specialized departments, and the expansion of emergency and surgical units.

Minister Abbasi clarified that this initiative is not limited to employees only but is part of the Pakistan Railways’ social responsibility to improve public health services. The project is expected to enhance medical infrastructure in Rawalpindi and reduce the burden on nearby public hospitals.
