The construction on the mega Rawalpindi Ring Road project is moving ahead at a rapid pace.

According to officials, nearly 75 percent of the work has been completed, while the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) is preparing to submit a revised PC-I to the Punjab government, reflecting an increase in the project’s cost.

RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza said over 75 percent of the construction had been completed. She added that if not for temporary delays caused by heavy rains and flood-like conditions, progress would have exceeded 85 percent.

During a special meeting at the RDA, FWO Project Manager Lt Col Fazal Khan briefed participants on the project’s progress. Murtaza praised the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) for its professionalism, noting that the project remains within the financial limits initially approved by the government, with no cost overruns or additional expenditures.

She said the Ring Road, once completed, will ease traffic congestion in the twin cities and surrounding areas, providing a faster and more convenient route for commuters traveling between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. It is also expected to cut travel time to Islamabad International Airport by about 35 minutes.

Murtaza further noted that the project will ensure direct connectivity between the motorway and GT Road. She added that work on the feasibility study for Phase-II is in progress and will be launched soon.

The RDA chief emphasized that the Ring Road project is being executed with complete transparency, ensuring there is no room for irregularities or corruption.
