Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University launches its Fine Arts Department, offering a 4-year BFA program to promote creativity, cultural awareness and interdisciplinary academic growth.

Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University (PMAS-AAUR) has taken a major step toward academic diversity by inaugurating its Department of Fine Arts, aiming to blend creativity with agricultural heritage. The department was officially opened by Vice Chancellor Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, who highlighted the significance of fine arts in promoting holistic education and preserving rural and cultural values, according to a report by Dawn.

Dr. Zaman emphasized that art has historically celebrated agriculture, capturing the rhythms of rural life and spotlighting issues like environmental sustainability. He called the new department a symbol of interdisciplinary growth that will enrich the campus’s academic and cultural landscape. The launch event was attended by faculty members, students, deans and directors, showing strong institutional support for the initiative.

Chairperson Dr. Aneela Afzal shared that the newly introduced four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program will offer students hands-on exposure to a wide range of artistic disciplines. The program is designed to nurture creativity, broaden cultural understanding, and encourage new forms of expression, positioning PMAS-AAUR as a hub for both scientific and artistic learning.
