Islamabad, 20 April 2025: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) avenged their earlier defeat against Punjab Kings (PBKS) with a commanding seven-wicket victory.

The Match 37 of the IPL 2025 took place on Sunday, April 20, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur.

This win followed a five-wicket loss to PBKs in a rain-affected 14-over match on April 18 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

RCB, having been put in to field first, restricted Punjab Kings to a total of 157/6. Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma were the standout bowlers, each picking up two wickets.

In reply, RCB’s chase was anchored by Virat Kohli, who remained unbeaten on 73 from 54 balls, hitting seven boundaries and one six.

With Kohli’s steady performance, RCB comfortably crossed the target with seven balls to spare.

RCB’s top-order provided a solid foundation, with Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal forming a partnership of 103 runs for the second wicket after Phil Salt’s early departure.

RCB captain Rajat Patidar credited the team’s bowlers for executing their plans effectively and praised Kohli and Padikkal for their pivotal roles in the chase.

Patidar highlighted the importance of maintaining tight bowling lines and the collective effort of the team in securing the win.

“The way everyone has put in their efforts was beautiful,” he said during the post-match presentation.

In a light-hearted moment, RCB trolled PBKS by digging up a tweet from Bollywood actor Salman Khan dating back to 2014.

In the tweet, Khan had humorously asked, “Zinta’s team won kya?” referring to PBKS’ then-owner Preity Zinta.

With the win, RCB moved up to third in the standings with 10 points and a net run rate of +0.472.

They will look to maintain their momentum when they face Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Thursday, April 24, at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
