The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has formed a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to conduct a transparent inquiry into alleged irregularities in University Town, with the objective of ensuring accountability and safeguarding public interest.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday, the decision was made by RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza, who reiterated the authority’s commitment to enforcing urban development regulations and protecting the rights of property owners.

The JIT will be headed by Additional Director General RDA Mansoor Ahmad Khan, and will include representatives from the Rawalpindi Cantonment Assistant Commissioner, and the Deputy Directors of Estate Management, Land Development, and Town Planning, along with the RDA Law Officer and University Town residents’ representative, Umar Siddique Khattak.

The team has been assigned to review a wide range of issues, including financial defaults and project delays, violations of the approved layout plan, lack of certified service design approvals, failure to address residents’ complaints, overselling of plots, irregularities in transfer deeds, and unjustified cancellations.

The JIT will submit a detailed report outlining factual findings, identifying violations, and recommending corrective measures.

DG Kinza Murtaza said that RDA remained committed to responsible urban development and would take strict action against any malpractice in housing schemes under its jurisdiction.
