Islamabad, Jan 27: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has escalated its efforts to curb illegal constructions in the city. According to an RDA spokesperson, under the leadership of Director General Kinza Murtaza, a significant operation was carried out, leading to the sealing of 10 unauthorized plazas and five illegal houses. This initiative focused on areas like Morgah Road, Gulshan-e-Abad, and Dhamyal Kalyal Road, targeting buildings that violated approved building plans and regulations.
The enforcement squad found that property owners had ignored prior notices and warnings from the RDA. Despite receiving clear instructions, these owners converted properties into unauthorized residential and commercial units without obtaining the required approvals or no-objection certificates (NOCs). Such violations contravene the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2020.

To address these breaches, the DG has directed the Land Use and Building Control Wing to take stringent action. This includes imposing fines and ensuring compliance with city planning laws. The RDA is committed to maintaining systematic urban development and preventing unauthorized activities that disrupt zoning regulations.
Additionally, recent operations have extended to the Top City Housing Scheme, where illegal construction activities were identified and tackled. The RDA’s focus on urban regulation aims to enhance the city’s planning framework, ensuring sustainable and organized growth for the residents of Rawalpindi.
This ongoing crackdown emphasizes the importance of adhering to approved building plans and highlights RDA’s dedication to enforcing city planning standards for the benefit of all.
