Islamabad, Sep 9: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) sealed three stores and a residential building at Millat Colony and High Court Road per the orders of Director General (DG) RDA, Kinza Murtaza.
In addition to seizing fiber cable equipment being used for illegal installation, the RDA Enforcement Squad sealed a residential building and three shops in Millat Colony, High Court Road, and on Old Airport Road Rawalpindi during a targeted operation against unauthorized/illegal residential cum commercial buildings and illegal installation.
Building Superintendent Fahad Shahzad Bhatti, Building Inspector Chaudhry Mukhtar Ahmad, Building Surveyor Malik Aamir Mahmood, and other RDA personnel made up the Enforcement Squad that conducted the operations. According to him, the property owners disregarded authorized building plans and maps. He went on to say that in spite of earlier RDA warnings, the owners persisted in breaking the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2021, Without obtaining the required licenses or No Objection Certificates (NOCs), the owners built unauthorized residential and commercial constructions.
According to the spokeswoman, Kinza Murtaza had instructed the Land Use & Building Control (LU&BC) Wing to impose strict measures against encroachments, unpermitted buildings, and unlawful commercial activities. He disclosed that the relevant authorities had also directed the Building Control Wing to step up ongoing efforts to dismantle unauthorized residential and commercial structures. He went on to say that in order to prevent legal action, the public were asked to remove encroachments on their own.
