National Bank Cricket Arena has been allocated fewer matches in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to declining spectator interest in recent seasons.
Sources stated that low ticket sales in Karachi last year caused financial losses for the PCB and PSL franchises, leading to a reassessment of match distribution.
Many franchises of PSL were also reluctant to play more games in Karachi, further influencing the decision to allocate fewer matches to the Port City.
The designated home ground for Quetta Gladiators has been shifted from Karachi, with the home matches of the franchise now set to be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
On the other hand, Rawalpindi, which has witnessed strong ticket sales and consistent spectator turnout, has been allocated more matches this season.
The highly anticipated 10th edition of PSL is set to begin on April 11, with defending champions Islamabad United facing two-time winners Lahore Qalandars in Rawalpindi.
The six-team tournament will feature 34 matches from April 11 to May 18, with Gaddafi Stadium hosting 13 matches, including two Eliminators and the grand final.
Rawalpindi will host 11 matches, while Karachi and Multan Cricket Stadium will each host five matches. Additionally, an exhibition match is scheduled for April 8 in Peshawar.
