Islamabad: In light of recent border tensions with India, the refinery CEOs assured the Petroleum Minister that they are fully operational and prepared to meet the fuel needs of the Armed Forces of Pakistan and any needs of defense of the nation.
A high-level delegation of Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) from Pakistan’s leading refineries met with the Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, today.
The meeting aimed to foster enhanced collaboration between the government and the refining sector to ensure a sustainable energy supply, improve refinery efficiency, and address key challenges currently facing the industry.
Held at the Ministry of Petroleum, the meeting served as a platform for productive discussions on critical issues, including refinery upgradation, fuel quality standards, and the development of policy frameworks to enhance the petroleum sector’s contribution to Pakistan’s economy.
Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the growth of the refining industry while ensuring affordable and reliable energy for consumers.
In light of recent border tensions with India, the refinery CEOs assured the Minister that they are fully operational and prepared to meet the fuel needs of the Armed Forces of Pakistan.
They highlighted the establishment of strategic fuel reserves and uninterrupted production capabilities to support national defense requirements under any circumstances.
Minister Malik commended the refineries for their proactive stance and reiterated the government’s full support in safeguarding energy security for both the civilian and defense sectors.
Minister Malik stated, “The government recognizes the vital role that refineries play in Pakistan’s energy sector. We are committed to fostering a policy environment that supports modernization, improves fuel quality, and ensures long-term sustainability. This collaboration is key to achieving energy security, economic growth, and a robust, resilient petroleum sector in the future.”
The refinery CEOs expressed appreciation for the Minister’s proactive approach and shared valuable insights regarding operational challenges.

They requested government assistance in upgrading refinery infrastructure and fiscal incentives to strengthen the sector further. Both parties agreed to continue regular consultations to advance the petroleum sector’s development.
The delegation included Zahid Mir, CEO of Pakistan Refinery Limited, Irtiza Qureshi, MD of PARCO, Adil Khattak, CEO of Attock Refinery Limited, Amir Abbasi, CEO of Cynergico, and Asad Hasan, CEO of National Refinery Limited.

Also in attendance were Secretary of Petroleum Momin Agha, Additional Secretary Zafar Abbas, and Director General of Oil Imran Ahmed.
