Islamabad, Jan 7: The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has teamed up with the provincial Excise and Taxation Department to introduce a convenient and transparent online platform for the e-auction of vehicle registration numbers. Set to begin in January 2025, the e-auction process is designed to allow individuals to bid on exclusive car and motorcycle number plates, with registration open until January 30, 2025.
The initiative marks a significant shift towards digital governance, offering a seamless and user-friendly experience for bidders. Interested participants can access the e-auction system via a dedicated mobile app or the web portal, making it easier to bid for their preferred vehicle number plates from the comfort of their homes. The registration process ensures complete transparency, with successful bidders’ details being displayed on the app, promoting a hassle-free and fair experience.
One of the standout features of this system is the inclusion of a tax calculator and vehicle verification services, which add value for vehicle owners. The tax calculator helps users estimate taxes related to their vehicle registration, while the verification services allow them to check the authenticity and status of the number plates they are bidding on.
PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf emphasized the significant impact of the online platform, noting its role in eliminating corruption and promoting fairness. By moving the auction process online, the initiative has curbed the influence of middlemen and agent mafias, allowing individuals to register and place bids directly for their desired number plates.
This step is in line with the government’s ongoing efforts to digitize public services, enhance transparency, and make government services more accessible to the public. As the e-auction opens, it is expected to attract significant participation from vehicle owners eager to secure unique registration numbers.
