Islamabad, July 16, 2025: Reham Khan, the former wife of ex-prime minister Imran Khan, on Tuesday launched a new political party called the Pakistan Republic Party. The party aims to give a voice to women, farmers, and other underrepresented groups.
At a press conference held at the Karachi Press Club, she said “Today, I am sharing the name of my party with you, InshAllah, Pakistan Republic Party, which would speak of a republic, where there will be no room for mob behavior, where horizontal leadership will be spoken about, and where those with working experience, what we call ‘lived experience’ in English, will be given representation.”
She promised to work for changes in the law that will help common people — especially women and farmers — and said she wants policies that deal with the public’s real-life issues.

Reham called this effort a national duty rather than just starting another political group. She said the goal is to bring back hope, respect, and real representation.
“This is a party for the public,” she posted later on X. “I will involve you, the public, in the manifesto, the direction, the operating structure.”
“Already been connected to amazing people that you & I have never heard of, but they have been doing great work in their hometowns,” she added. “These fresh faces will decide how to proceed.”

Reham Khan a journalist by career, first gained political attention in January 2015 when she married the former cricketer and politician Imran Khan, who was leading the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at the time.
She was said to be part of internal political discussions that caused unrest in PTI. Some top party leaders were uneasy about her role and eventually pushed her out of political activities.
Their marriage ended in less than a year, with Reham later saying that outside political pressure played a role in the separation.
