Police in Jhelum have arrested well-known religious scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO), officials confirmed.
According to police sources, Mirza was taken into custody on the directives of the Jhelum deputy commissioner and later shifted to jail. The arrest falls under administrative measures allowed by the MPO law, which authorizes detention to maintain public order.
Authorities further confirmed that Mirza’s academy has been sealed, with its premises locked to prevent gatherings or religious sessions. The move is part of increased monitoring of religious institutions in the district.
