Islamabad, Sep 6: Pakistani laborers who have finished their employment in South Korea are not receiving the insurance benefits that are due to them and can file a claim. Although many employees are not aware of how to collect these benefits, the Pakistan Employment Permit System (EPS) Center is assisting workers in recovering unclaimed cash.
Based on information supplied by the Korean embassy, the Pakistan EPS Center, headed by Director Kim Ki-wook, is providing advice to laborers who have returned to Pakistan after working in South Korea under the Employment Permit System (E9).
Despite having spent their entire four years and ten months allowed, many of these workers have not yet made use of their insurance benefits. “Departure guarantee insurance” and “return cost insurance” are two of the advantages.
For a number of years, these benefits known as “dormant insurance” go unclaimed. When a policyholder does not receive insurance proceeds within three years of the emergence of a payment reason, the policy becomes dormant. The funds are still in the insurer’s possession, awaiting reimbursement.
This is true for the departure and return costs of many returning employees. These employees are now receiving assistance from the Pakistan EPS Center in accessing their unclaimed insurance money. But the procedure has grown difficult. It is challenging for the center to get in touch with each employee individually because so many have either moved or changed their contact information. The EPS Center and the Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) in Pakistan have teamed up to address this problem.
