The Riyadh Public Transport Authority has introduced revised timings for the Riyadh Metro, now starting daily at 5:30 AM to better serve students and workers who commute early.
The new schedule aims to reduce reliance on private vehicles, cut traffic congestion, and improve mobility across the Saudi capital. Officials highlighted that the adjustment aligns with Riyadh’s long-term sustainability and quality-of-life goals.
Since its launch in December, the Riyadh Metro has transported over 100 million passengers, achieving an impressive 99.78% punctuality rate, according to a recent report by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City.
Passenger numbers remain strong, with 46.5 million riders recorded on the Blue Line (Olaya corridor), 17 million on the Red Line (King Abdullah Road), and 12 million on the Orange Line (Madinah Road). The remaining three lines carried 24.5 million passengers combined.
